Together for humanity

For each other and against any form of violence. This is what KML and all employees in the company stand for. Unfortunately, countless people have had to flee from violence in the recent past. As a company we have therefore decided to donate € 5,000 for refugees from Ukraine. In this way, we would like to contribute our small share to provide people with the most essential items. Our sympathy goes to all people who had to leave their lives behind because of this violence.

We say THANK YOU again to our great employees

Not only because they do incredible things in difficult times, but also because they showed a big heart again and donated diligently for the St. Anna Kinderspital. The donated amount was doubled by our managing director and the company KML added another € 5,000. Thus, we were able to donate a total of € 8,460.

Further increase in manufacturing flexibility

In addition to the mid-term process expansion strategy, the KML Group is investing in its internal machinery with a clear focus on increasing efficiency and flexibility. To extend the technological lead, a CNC lathe with tool turret for driven tools from CMZ is integrated into the production process.   The required product variance from the various industrial sectors is becoming ever broader and more demanding. Especially the automation solutions, internally from the group of companies, demand an increased flexibility in the existing manufacturing processes and production parts. Therefore, the consequent next step of expansion of the own production possibilities was decided in the company management. Taking into account the internal framework conditions and the market requirements, the necessary key data were defined. A flexible CNC lathe with driven tools was selected as the most suitable solution. The highest attention was paid to precision and process stability. In the course of the evaluation, the TD-35-Y-1350 model from CMZ was selected. Due to its design, this model can achieve high cutting performance with high precision. The model has now been successfully implemented in the production process and is used in multi-shift operation. The long-term goals of “insourcing”, “shortening throughput times”, “increasing manufacturing flexibility” but above all the technological expansion of the headquarters were the initiators of the machine park expansion. With the expansion of the machine park, the desired integrated drive solutions can be manufactured and produced more efficiently. As with the previous and further planned investments, in addition to the technological machine characteristics, the optimized and smooth integration into the CAM system established and optimized on the KML side is a basic requirement. CMZ meets these requirements with the FANUC control system. This also takes care of the company’s internal usability requirements and ensures smooth integration of the steadily growing workforce. This is also fundamentally necessary for further expansion. Both customers and KML itself benefit from this investment and are thus well equipped for the future. Our experts in work preparation and production management look forward to hearing from you.

Consistent implementation of the sustainable investment strategy at KML

The KML group of companies is expanding its production technology capabilities in a targeted manner and is investing in a high-precision surface grinding machine from OKAMOTO. In close coordination between the production and company management, the necessary requirements for a high-precision surface grinding machine were defined. The ACC-105-DX model from OKAMOTO realizes all of these requirements and makes it possible for services that were previously purchased externally to now be performed in-house. This increases KML’s comprehensive product expertise and sustainably strengthens the technological headquarters in Vienna. This is a clear sign for the implementation of the strategic goal orientation. With the expansion of the internal machine park, the desired integrated drive solutions for customers can be produced even more efficiently. The expansion of the vertical range of manufacture is one of the decisive factors here. The precision surface grinding machine has been designed by the manufacturer for the greatest possible stability and accuracy. This helps KML to continue to meet the steadily increasing customer requirements on the market in the long term. The optimized guide ratio for longitudinal and transverse movements makes a significant contribution to this. Through the further increase in productivity, due to short changeover times and distances, this precision grinding machine fits perfectly into the machine park of KML Precision Machining GmbH. The market will demand more and more complex and precise component manufacturing. Due to this, KML has already invested in an additional option, a magnetic clamping plate with a pole width of 13mm including a continuous transverse pole pitch with corresponding demagnetization device. This design also ensures the future feasibility of the smallest components. In addition to the technical parameters, the focus was on simple operation for the employees with the highest accuracy. The smallest infeed value of 0.0001mm, which meets the required accuracy spectrum of the production parts, can be set precisely and quickly by the employees. With this investment the possibilities in the group of companies are massively increased and also in the area of contract manufacturing we can act even more comprehensively towards our customers. Our manufacturing experts are looking forward to your requirements.

Donation to St. Anna Children’s Hospital

The donation to the St. Anna Children’s Hospital can almost be called a tradition. For the second year in a row, colleagues had the opportunity to participate in the voluntary donation of the company KML. As a small incentive to participate, it was announced that the amount of all colleagues would be doubled by Mr. Wiedrich, as was the case with the last donation collection. In total the colleagues donated € 1.880,-. This amount was doubled by Mr. Wiedrich and the company KML added another € 3.000,-. Thus a total of unbelievable € 6.760,- was donated. Many thanks to all participants.

Increase in process reliability – Establishment of a tensile test rig

In the implementation of its customer-specific drive solutions, KML relies on integrated designs with the greatest possible reduction of interfaces. As a result, bonded joints within the assemblies are becoming increasingly essential. The necessary testing processes are now carried out in-house at KML. In this way, KML can continue to meet the highest internal and external quality standards, as well as react even more flexibly and quickly to customer requirements. All this is realized with the newly acquired tensile testing machine from ZwickRoell GmbH & Co. KG. The following objectives are being pursued with it:
  • Integration of further testing processes
  • Ensuring consistently high quality
  • Perfection of the bonding and welding processes
  • Systematic optimization of bonding/material and component properties
KML specifically tests the bond strength of joints and the resulting breaking load. Thanks to the high force and displacement resolution of the “Z020 AllroundLine”, defined parameters can be determined or checked precisely, repeatably and traceably. The testing software used makes a significant contribution to this. At constant “room temperature”, not only compression and tensile, but also flexure and cyclic tests can be performed on our adhesive joints and assemblies. This further enhances our flexibility and future-proofing. We will be pleased to support you in the course of your material testing or accompany you with our know-how in your development projects. Please feel free to contact us at any time.

Visit the St. Anna Children’s Hospital

Since KML has been supporting the St. Anna Children’s Hospital with donations for several years, we were particularly pleased to be able to visit the hospital in person recently. We were able to gain a lot of information, especially about what happens with our donation, and would like to take this opportunity to thank the director, Mrs. Hahn, for the personal meeting. Also, a big thank you to the employees of the company KML for their donation and also to the managing director Mr. Wiedrich, who doubled the amount of the KML employees to the traditional donation.
